Visit to Chumleigh

On the 3rd of July 2023 Kathleen and Lily and Leevi and Cruize all went to Chumleigh Academy. Lily’s mum picked all of them up.First Lily was picked up then Kathleen then Cruize then Leevi. When they got there they had to wait a bit for all of the other schools to get there but there were some year 5 there but some other year 6 were there too.Everybody had to go to a hall called Heywood.Everybody had a group ABCD all of the Year 6 from Witheridge C of E Primary Academy. Then after getting into there groups everybody had to sit down on a wooden, hard floor. They met the head teacher (Mr Payen) and (Mr Jhonson)The Head Master? After meeting everybody and saying  stuff  they headed to a sience room and met a teacher  and in it they used a smarty to test it on and in the class work Lily and Kathleen did a fantastic job on the class work. After, class they headed to the D.T room and made a key chane although Kathleen’s was a star but broke so now it is a butterfly and Leevi’s  cept on breaking so he had to a thicker  one so that time it did work!    Finally, the last lesson was Maths the teacher was very nice although she said some very wise words too.The thing that they did in Maths was a murder mystery thing so one person was the killer the other was the victum and on the large piece of paper was some questions to answer. After that Kathleen’s mum came to pick them up.

OPAL Playtime

This term, we have introduced OPAL playtimes where more activities are now available to do. This includes; Dressing up, Crafts, Vehicles, Quiet area, Mud kitchen, Small play, Den building, Minibeast hunting, Gardening and Sports area. This has influenced the fun children experience in their lunch play. Many children have been enjoying themselves more in playtime than before. We also have donations from the students so that we can have more items to use in our OPAL playtime. Even the teachers have much more joy in lunch play. When it’s tidy up time we have 5 minutes or more to tidy up the playground, the Playleaders will help by having a specific area to tidy up. The class fours made a speech about what they like, these have been displayed on the class ones fence in the playground.

Community Clean Up

On Monday, our whole school got involved in a Community Clean Up. The idea came from the School Council and Eco Rangers. Parents came to help clean up the village and school. Class 3 walked around the village to clean up signs with two parent volunteers. Class 2 planted seeds out by the front gate. We are looking forward to watching them grow. Children in Class 1 and the FSU cleared flower beds and planted more seeds to encourage wildlife to the area outside the hall. Class 4 went on a litter pick around the village. We used litter pickers and bin rings to clean the parks and all around the village. Thank you to everyone who bought things in and came to help us. It was a great success and everybody had fun!

Football

Twyford Spartans Youth Football Club is a team in Tiverton Town. There was a presentation at the end of the season. Reggie won most improved player (maybe Reggie could be captain next year) and we all got participation awards.

In addition the Twyford games, the school also played some matches. We won 3 out of 4 and Harry scored 3 goals and Alfie  scored 1 goal and Zac scored 6 goals and Reggie scored the best  header ever from Paige’s cross.

Reggie scored for Twyford 1 goal but he could have scored 2 but somebody hand-balled it and it was going to go top corner.

As you can tell, we love football and these games were great!
